About

ABOUT THE BLOG

Imagine you’re peeking into someone’s else journal. A girl’s journal. That journal may contain her inner musings, or her random thoughts and ideas, or some personal moments that happen in her day that she doesn’t want to forget. Maybe it contains some of her dreams or nightmares, or fantasies, or things or people that made her upset, or maybe a litany of praises or criticism for the book or movie that she’d read or seen.

cynthia go | prose & poetry is about that, a personal blog that caters mainly to my literary musings and random thoughts, real and unreal.

So, welcome to my mind. πŸ™‚

Way back 2011, I had another blog*Β which is basically just like this one, and its about page goes like this:

This is a blog to keep me mentally sane in a world full of contradicting situations and feelings, where up is down, and hot is cold, where love is equally synonymous with hatred, where best creativity lies in the darkest places of minds, where counter-intuition and gut feelings are much better than by the book instructions.

This blog is about me and not about you. But if you can relate with my writings, then you may well be on the same page with me, in which case I am not sure whether to congratulate or pity you. But in either way, you may be assured then that you’re not alone with whatever you’re going through. Just hold on and the sun will shine again. πŸ™‚

Honestly, that description still holds true for this blog and to everything else posted in here.

I started writing online as a hobby, as a personal catharsis to keep me sane and grounded in this world. For now, I think I will continue to write in this blog with the same reason in mind. πŸ™‚

*I’ve already imported on this site the old entries from my old blog, you can search for it if you want. Anything written older than June 2016 is from my old private blog.

ABOUT THE OWNER

cynthia go pic

Hi! I’m Cynthia. The sole writer of this blog.

I’m a Filipino-Chinese, born and raised in the Philippines.

I’m a follower of Christ.

And a 90’s kid.

I love to write, read, travel, and sleep. With sleep as my number one favorite.

I started writing in an effort to capture my random thoughts on paper. And contrary to what you may think, writing isn’t really my passion. Language is. And studying! πŸ˜‰

Weird thing about me is I love taking exams and tests, hence, the studying.

I also love learning new things, as long as it doesn’t involve numbers and codes.

And despite writing, I’m not a grammar nazi.

I believe in the soul of words, in its power to convey emotions and thoughts and feelings, regardless of the grammar syntax.

Hmm, what else?

I love to travel and take pictures, and write about it afterwards, or sometimes create travel videos out of it [check out my youtube here]. I’m still an amateur on that though. But it’s still a lot of fun to do.

About food… Cookies, cakes, milkshakes, and anything sweets are my favorites.

Coffee is my ex, not good for the heart! It hurts my bones and teeth too. πŸ™ But I still indulge on it occasionally. Tsk. πŸ™‚

End of story.

Hi thanks for your comment on The Daily Post (for some reason there was no reply button on there?!). I’m now wondering whether to separate my categories out a bit and be more specific like you suggested. Thanks! πŸ™‚

Yes, you can be more specific…and use catchy titles. Besides, I don’t think it would hurt if you have at least 5 categories. πŸ™‚ Variety is good.

I have a question. Is English your first language? Do you speak other languages and, if so, which ones?

So true! Sometimes, all we need to do is to express whatever it is we are feeling at the moment. And most of the time, that alone is enough to keep us going. Thank you so much for visiting.. πŸ™‚
